We believe that children have a right to expect a curriculum which is fun, motivating, interesting and most importantly purposeful.
We line up on the playground in front of the Hall and use the Hall doors, except 2KM who use the classroom fire door for entry and exit.
Our times are:
8:50am - start lessons
12:40 - lunch
3:10pm - home
Monday - spelling test
Tuesday - new spelling rule.
Wednesday - Hand in homework.
Friday - Outdoor PE - come to school in PE kit.
You will be informed in advance of any further PE days.
It is so important in KS1 that pupils read at home as much as possible to continue to develop fluency in their reading. This should take place at least 3 times per week.
All home reading can be recorded in the Home Reading Record to tally up for our Reading Reward Scheme.
Y2 bring only these things to school:
Reading book and Home Reading Record
We bring a packed lunch and water bottle separately.
* Spellings can also be found on our Spelling Shed game.

We strive to develop imagination through a stimulating, creative environment where every child has the opportunity to shine.
We follow Read, Write Inc. for the teaching of phonics on a daily basis, and use the Read, Write Inc. reading books to ensure they are matched to the children's phonics knowledge. Once children are secure in their Phonics knowledge, we move to whole class reading where we study a range of texts over the year.
At Gillshill Primary School we aim to deliver all subjects thoughtfully and to make links that are relevant, appropriate and purposeful to the area of learning.
